Playstation 3 Console- What Size Fit You?
At the release of the playstation 3 console the world was
amazed at the technical development and share power of the system.
Even though the system was warmly received the price tag was
discouraging for many.
Well the sun has started to shine again, the prices have
been drasticly slashed and this powerful multi-media device is available for many more to
enjoy.
As of now, the PS3 has been sufficiently
reviewed and the newest ps3 consoles (the "slim") have been out in the 120gb format for a couple
months now (since September 1st, 2009).
To recap the pros of the
reviews:
- more energy friendly, Slimmer, and lighter
- Built-in blue ray player
- Netflix streaming (Talk about amazing!)
- Free online service (vs.paying online for X-box live)
The cons of the reviews:
- Cant play old PS2 games on the slim
- Bluetooth remote only (and remote is not part of bundle, so you need to
purchase a remote to use as a dvd/blu-ray player,
- No more Linux support
Currently blu-ray players are in the price range of $100-$200,
the playstation makes for an expensive option as a stand alone blu-ray player.
However, As a home media center player/HTPC device, it really
shines and is a great deal (you can't build a HTPC with a blu-ray player for less). It is somewhat
limited, however, as a HTPC as its browser is not up to par.
Too bad Sony dropped linux support for this system. However,
the addition of Netflix streaming just ices this cake.
